The synagogue in Szeged, southern Hungary, is the inspiration for this ketubah. And Dr. Immanuel Low, a botanist, is responsible for the many botanical design elements gracing the interior of the synagogue. Several of these design elements can be seen in this ketubah around the perimeter: blackberry briars, willows, and roses. The pair of trees at dawn in the upper portion are the kind one might happen upon strolling along the banks of the Tisza River outside Szeged. The quote wrapping the ketubah is from Ecclesiastes, "To everything there is a season; a time for every purpose under the heavens." A portion of the proceeds from the sale of this ketubah will go to the Foundation for the Synagogue in Szeged, to provide funds toward reconstruction and preservation of the synagogue. This is a limited edition, signed and numbered.
